Why Your Patient Survey Matters
Have you ever received a survey after a visit to a Memorial Health hospital or a Memorial Care clinic and wondered if anyone actually reads it?
We do.
Your feedback helps us improve care for patients across central Illinois, whether you visited a hospital, clinic, urgent care, surgery center or emergency department.
While medical records show the care you received, surveys tell us how that care felt.
- Did your care team explain things clearly?
- Were your questions answered?
- Did you feel respected and supported?
- Did you leave knowing what to expect next?
Those details help us understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve.
“Every survey represents a person’s story,” said Ginny Evans, director of Hospitality and Patient Experience at Springfield Memorial Hospital. “We celebrate what we’re doing well, but we also listen carefully when patients tell us we can do better.”
Turning Feedback Into Action
Patient comments have led to meaningful changes across Memorial Health. Some are easy to see, such as updates to emergency department bathrooms and brighter patient belongings bags. Others happen behind the scenes, including better communication between care teams, clearer discharge instructions and smoother transitions from the hospital to home.
“Some of our most meaningful improvements have started with a single patient taking a few minutes to share their experience,” Evans said.
The next time you receive a Memorial Health survey by mail, email or text, please take a few moments to complete it. Your feedback helps us provide better care for every patient who walks through our doors.
