Local Business Owner Donates Land for Medical Community
John Pruitt is a big fan of the medical community in Springfield.
“The medical community is Springfield as far as I’m concerned,” the owner of E.L. Pruitt Co. said. “They employ the largest number of employees outside the State of Illinois. Most importantly, the quality of healthcare we can access right in this area is phenomenal.”
Over the years, he and his company, E.L. Pruitt Co., have donated to Memorial Health as well as various other non-profit organizations throughout central Illinois.
Most recently, he donated 21 acres of land on W. Wabash Ave. to Memorial Health through the Springfield Memorial Foundation. The land was valued by an independent appraiser at $3 million dollars.
“We greatly appreciate this generous donation from John and E.L. Pruitt Co.,” said Chuck Callahan, Springfield Memorial Hospital president and CEO. “Donations, large and small, represent key relationships that allow us to fulfill our mission to improve lives and build stronger communities through better health.”
“I’m glad we got it done,” John said. “Personally, I go back 45 or 50 years with Memorial. They have great management and a dedicated workforce. I know they will utilize the land in important ways. I’m proud they are based in our community and pleased to support their mission.”
