New Area Nursing Education Center Benefits Training for Future Nurses

Thanks to a laser focus to address the regional nursing shortage, Tracy Madonia and other area nursing students will enjoy a new Nursing Education Center this fall on the campus of Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC).

Tracy Madonia, entering her fourth semester of the LLCC Associate Degree Nursing Program, appreciates the investment Memorial Health System has made in the nursing program.

“I was excited to learn that Memorial, a four-time recipient of a Magnet® designation, was partnering with LLCC to expand on their already stellar program,” Madonia said. “This allows more nursing hopefuls the opportunity to pursue their RN degree and fill a much-needed demand in the field of nursing. LLCC has provided us with the tools and supplies necessary to perfect our nursing skills.”

Memorial Health System chief nursing officer Marsha Prater recognizes the importance of supporting future nursing professionals like Madonia.

“Having been a nurse for more than 40 years, I am thrilled to see the caliber of this learning environment and the tremendous support it will provide for the next generation of nurses in our region,” she said. “This state-of-the-art facility creates expanded learning opportunities for LLCC students and enables the college to continue to increase its nursing enrollment over the next few years.”

Ninety additional students will now be able to enroll in LLCC’s nursing program each year for a total of 215 new nursing students annually.
