Featured Recipe: Low-Sugar Chocolate Tart Filling
Ingredients
- 8 oz bittersweet chocolate chips (60% cacao)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 TB cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Cool whip and crushed candy for garnish
- 9 inch pie crust – graham cracker or preferred pie crush

Instructions
- Place chocolate chips in heat safe bowl. Save for next steps.
- Bring milk and cornstarch to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir constantly while cooking mixture. Continue cooking until mixture is thick like honey and slightly frothy.
- Pour milk and cornstarch mixture over chocolate. Let stand for 1 minute without stirring.
- Add peppermint extract and salt to chocolate mixture. Stir to combine.

- Let mixture come to room temperature. Pour into crust pan.
- Chill until set, about 4 hours.
- Garnish with whipped topping and crushed candy canes prior to serving+.
